Just for the hell of it, I installed PP5 Ultra on my laptop, used the one activation key provided to activate PP5, loaded a few video clips, then went to advanced edit, PowerDirector opened without issue.
I think you need to again contact Technical Support, it's possible that you have an InstallShield issue, have you ever had PowerDirector or a trial version on your computer

OK, This really appears to be a computer issue or just an installation issue. I want you to uninstall PP5 and remove ALL CyberLink software from your computer. The problem is unique to you.
I didn't see any mention of a diagnostic request to show us what your system is - follow the guides below.
I wasn't able to view the image you attached - don't know what's happened to it. I would like to see more images of the error message, the request and perhaps know the actions you are carrying out to trigger the message - you may be asking it to perform tasks for a higher build or it is a registration notification you're seeing.
Images please, again - follow the guides.

Try the following way to re-install PowerProducer:
a.) Start--> Programs -->Cyberlink PowerProducer --> Uninstall PowerProducer
b.) Start --> Run --> type 'regedit' --> click 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE' --> click 'Software' --> locate 'Cyberlink' ----> Delete 'CyberLink' folder.
c.) Start --> Run --> type 'regedit'--> click 'Hkey_Current_user' --> click
'Software' --> locate 'Cyberlink' ----> Delete 'CyberLink' folder.
d.) Delete C:Programs FilesCyberlinkPowerProducer
And reboot your PC.

The object is to REMOVE all traces of PowerProducer and this includes PowerDirector Express. You would then after shutting down your PC go and reinstall PowerProducer.

ReplyFeb 16, 2010 23:11 Tried cleaning everything out but I still get the same problem, it was also happening on the other computer, before I got this one.I will include the first message that comes up when I start power director and then the second one after I put in the key that was provided for power producer. I sent a message to tech support and all they asked me was what file format I am using, whatever that means.As far as I can tell the power producer key will not activate power director express. The advanced editing button in power producer is not even active.The acer laptop includes acer arcade which is made by cyberlink, could this cause aproblem.
